Double blessings arrive alongside twin victories. Between June 9 and 10 local time, SEPCOIII successfully completed the overall operational performance tests for eight gas turbines in single-cycle mode at both the Qassim and Taiba EPC projects in Saudi Arabia. All units met and exceeded target performance indicators, marking a major construction milestone and laying a solid foundation for high-quality project delivery and the commencement of single-cycle commercial operation.

The Saudi Qassim EPC Project is located in central Saudi Arabia, a newly built combined-cycle power plant with an installed capacity of 1,800 megawatts equipped with H-class gas turbines. The configuration features one 3-on-1 combined-cycle block plus an additional single-cycle gas turbine. Designed with high efficiency and environmental protection as core principles, the project will strengthen the safety of Saudi Arabia’s power grid and guarantee reliable electricity supply.

Situated in western Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Taiba EPC Project is another new 1,800-megawatt combined-cycle power plant adopting H-class gas turbines with the same layout: one 3-on-1 combined-cycle unit plus one standalone single-cycle gas turbine. Upon completion, the plant will deliver ample power supply to Medina and its surrounding areas, accelerating the delivery of Saudi Arabia’s energy transition goals.

Both projects were awarded in the first quarter of 2024. Since then, project teams have carried out scientific planning and targeted execution to deliver all key milestones on schedule. The successful conclusion of the consecutive gas turbine performance tests fully validates the outstanding quality of construction, equipment installation and commissioning works, demonstrates SEPCOIII’s robust core competitiveness in the overseas energy market, and embodies the project teams’ fine ethos of overcoming difficulties, sustained hard work and relentless pursuit of excellence.
