Recently, the Saudi Red Sea Utility Infrastructure Project, undertaken by SEPCOIII under an EPC general contracting model, has fully entered commercial operation, marking the successful completion of this high‑profile international mega‑scale comprehensive infrastructure project.

A key initiative under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the project prioritizes clean energy and environmental protection to deliver pollution‑free green energy supply. It is the world’s first large‑scale commercial utility facility integrating multi‑energy complementarity, as well as the largest overseas energy‑supporting infrastructure project built by a Chinese enterprise. Its scope covers multiple modules including photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, power grid systems, seawater desalination, water supply pipeline networks, wastewater treatment, wastewater pipeline networks, solid‑waste treatment, communications and district cooling.

Thanks to its leading technological innovation, green construction practices and benchmark achievements, the project has won a host of international awards. It received the 2022 MUSE Design Gold Award, earned the Guinness World Record for the “World’s largest off‑grid battery energy storage project by capacity” in 2025, and secured the “Renewable Energy Innovation of the Year Award” and “Sustainable Construction Project of the Year Award” in 2026.
