Recently, the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management officially unveiled the list of winners for the National Quality Engineering Award (2024–2026). Two projects delivered by SEPCOIII have stood out from numerous entries and won the National Quality Engineering Gold Award: the Saudi Red Sea Integrated Green Energy Facilities Project, executed under an EPC contract, and the Shanghaimiao Green, Smart, Solar-Thermal Hybrid Demonstration Project of GD Power, China Energy Investment Corporation. This achievement marks a new milestone in the company’s high-quality brand development. Established in 1981, the National Quality Engineering Award is China’s earliest cross-industry, cross-disciplinary national-level quality award in the engineering sector. Administered by the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management, it is presented once every three years and enjoys high authority and wide influence across the industry, with the National Quality Engineering Gold Award being its highest honor. To date, SEPCOIII has won a total of 11 National Quality Engineering Gold Awards, covering coal-fired, gas-fired and oil-fired power stations, new energy, seawater desalination, infrastructure and other full business segments. Located in Tabuk Province in western Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Red Sea Integrated Green Energy Facilities Project serves as a core landmark initiative under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. It is the world’s first large-scale commercial off-grid public utility project centered on photovoltaic power and energy storage that achieves 100% self-sustained power supply from renewable energy. It is also the largest integrated energy and supporting infrastructure project undertaken by a Chinese enterprise overseas. The project integrates core modules including photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, power grid, seawater desalination, water supply pipeline network, wastewater treatment, wastewater pipeline network, solid waste disposal, communication and district cooling. Previously, the project has earned a host of prestigious international accolades, including the MUSE Design Gold Award and a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest-capacity off-grid battery energy storage project. The Shanghaimiao Green, Smart, Solar-Thermal Hybrid Demonstration Project of GD Power, China Energy Investment Corporation is situated in Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is of great significance for advancing China’s West-to-East Power Transmission strategy and delivers green, energy-saving, low-carbon and efficient operation. The project has set multiple domestic and global records. It features the world’s first million-kilowatt steel-structured indirect dry cooling tower, and has realized the successful application of the domestically developed, fully autonomous intelligent Distributed Control System (iDCS) on a million-kilowatt ultra-supercritical coal-fired indirect cooling generating unit. |
