On January 2, another achievement was announced from the site of Uzbekistan Surkhandarya CCGT Power Project—the #2 GT main transformer was successfully shifted and positioned. This critical milestone not only marks the successful installation of the project’s first large-scale core facility in 2026 but also lays a solid foundation for the comprehensive advancement of subsequent electrical system installation and commissioning work.

The #2 GT main transformer involved in this operation has a design weight of 335 tons, with an estimated friction force of approximately 67 tons. Its massive size and concentrated weight posed significant challenges for transportation measures and positioning accuracy. To address these challenges, the project team implemented a combined pushing scheme, utilizing two sets of PLN-400 thrust devices to precisely control the lifting height and propulsion distance. This ensured the equipment maintained a stable posture throughout the transportation process, effectively mitigating the risk of damage due to uneven force distribution. The successful placement of the #2 GT main transformer not only provided the project team with valuable experience and key data for large-scale equipment installation but also established a replicable and scalable model for the entry and installation of other large facilities such as additional transformers.
